Import connections from other apps

Bring saved connections from DBeaver, TablePlus, DataGrip, pgAdmin, MySQL Workbench, Sequel Ace, MongoDB Compass and Azure Data Studio into RowDex.

1 min readUpdated

You do not have to retype every connection. RowDex can scan for other database clients installed on your computer, or read a connection file you pick, and turn what it finds into RowDex connections.

Supported apps#

  • DBeaver
  • TablePlus
  • DataGrip and other JetBrains IDEs
  • MySQL Workbench
  • Sequel Ace and Sequel Pro
  • MongoDB Compass
  • Azure Data Studio
  • pgAdmin
  1. Open the importer

Click Import from another app in the connections sidebar. It is also offered during the first-launch tour. Importing is available in the desktop app.

  2. Scan or pick a file

Choose Scan installed apps to look for supported clients automatically, or Choose file to select an export or config file yourself.

  3. Review the list

Each connection found is listed with the app it came from. Connections you already have in RowDex are marked as already saved, and ones that cannot be imported say why.

  4. Select and import

Tick the ones you want and import them. A progress bar shows each connection as it is added.
