Results grid: browse, filter and edit data
Work with query results in RowDex: sort, filter, search, edit cells inline, add and clone rows, delete, undo, copy as CSV, JSON or SQL, and follow foreign keys.
The grid under the editor is more than a viewer. For results that come from a single table, you can edit the data right in it.
Move around#
- Click a column header to sort.
- Use the column filter to find a column by name in a wide table.
- Use the grid search to find text across the loaded rows.
- Choose 50, 100 or 200 rows per page and page through large results.
- Click a value in a foreign-key column to open the referenced row.
Filter rows#
The row filter takes simple column=value clauses. Combine them with a comma or AND.
id=100
name=John
id=100, name=pilotOnly = is supported. For anything richer, write a WHERE clause in the editor. You can also right-click a cell and choose Filter by this value.
Edit cells#
Change a value
Click a cell, or select it and press F2. Type the new value and press Enter. Press Backspace on a selected cell to set it to NULL.
Review the pending changes
Edited cells are highlighted and counted in a bar above the grid. Nothing has touched the database yet.
Save or discard
Press ⌘S or click Save to write all changes together. Click Discard to throw them away.
Add, clone and delete rows#
- Add a row: fill in the new-row panel and insert. Press Esc to discard the draft.
- Clone the selected rows with ⌘D or from the right-click menu. The copy opens as a draft so you can adjust it before inserting.
- Delete from the right-click menu. Select several rows to delete in one go.
- Paste rows copied from a spreadsheet to create new rows (the first 200 rows are used; use Import CSV for larger files).
- Set a value for many rows: select rows, right-click, then set one column across all of them.
Undo and redo#
Press ⌘Z to undo a grid change and ⌘⇧Z to redo it, including a deleted row, which is re-inserted.
Copy#
Press ⌘C to copy the selected cell. Right-click for Copy cell value, Copy column name and Copy rows as:
- TSV or CSV, with headers
- JSON
- Markdown table
- INSERT statements
- UPDATE statements
